WHEN Lisa Tamati hits Hawera as part of her mammoth fundraising trek local runner Fake Gucci Messenger Handbags Christine Corrigan hopes to join her.
Inspired by Tamati's book Running Hot and a chance meeting she had with the endurance runner recently, Ms Corrigan decided she too could contribute to the NZ Run.
Tamati is running the length of New Zealand to raise money for CanTeen and CureKids.
"I saw her in a shop about six weeks ago and was having a chat. As I walked out I thought there must be something I can do," she said.
"I know I can run 10km and people are generous."
So she decided to put on her running shoes and chase people up for donations she will pass on to Tamati.
And of course, she will run 10km.
Ms Corrigan has collected $500 so far and expects more people will pay up when she has completed her leg.

She's not sure that Tamati knows she will be joining her yet so hopes it will be OK.
"I've been trying to get in contact with her but if I can't I'll jump out of the car when I see her and start running," she said.

She won't be the only person to have joined Tamati for part of her 2200km run.
Breast cancer survivor and marathon runner Wynnis Grow, 63, ran a 25km stretch with Tamati in Canterbury.
